About the event
Charlie Marie, like so many songwriters, was first introduced to country music by her grandmother. At the age of ten years old she was already hooked on Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn. Her admiration for their artistry has only grown stronger since and shines through in her own repertoire. With vocals that are reminiscent of “The Queen of Country Rock”, Linda Ronstadt, and current influences like genre breaking Margo Price, Charlie is bringing the trailblazers country music together with a modern day flair.
Charlie may have cut her song-writing teeth while living in Nashville for a few years, but it wasn’t until Charlie moved back home to Rhode Island in 2016 that she truly found her strength in her live performances. After becoming a staple at venues around her hometown, Charlie took to the road this past July for a two week tour that lead to a chance to record an album in a unique setting. An Airbnb unit where she and her lead guitar player were staying in Charleston, South Carolina doubled as the birth place of her new recordings. “The most important thing to me is that my fans are able to listen to my songs,” she says. “This live album allows them to do that in a raw un-produced way. I know that this isn't how my songs will sound once they're all grown up and find their wings in a studio setting with studio musicians, but their growth is something I want my fans to experience with me.”
